Sargodha: Sargodha Deputy Commissioner (DC) Asia Gul announced that the Punjab government has approved funds worth PKR 620.3 million for the rehabilitation of roads in Sargodha, according to a news report. She made these comments while addressing a meeting of ‘Naya Pakistan Manzalein Asaan’, and added that efforts were also underway to get the government to release an additional PKR 660.7 million.

Officials revealed that the authorities concerned have so far spent PKR 29 million on the construction and repair of 106 kilometres of roads in the district. They also informed the meeting that 70% of the funds will be spent on repairing roads which had been neglected in the past. They added that the remaining 30% was reserved for the construction of new roads.

The DC urged the local administration to prioritise the populous areas that had the worst affected roads. She added that this was essential as these areas could also benefit from the Manzalein Asaan programme.
