Islamabad: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved funds of USD 5 million for planning and preparing the design of the Naulong Integrated Water Resources Development Project in Jhal Magsi in Balochistan, according to news published on November 4.

The financing assistance of ADB will be used for high-quality design, stakeholder engagement and safeguards, and procurement readiness and support. The project will be built on the project documents including the feasibility study and associated studies conducted by the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).

According to the details, the readiness financing will validate the project design and update environmental and social safeguards. The said project will support investment in water management and skills development via inclusive and gender-sensitive social mobilisation processes, water resources infrastructure, improve climate and disaster resilience, and enhance agriculture productivity and livelihood opportunities. The news sources mentioned that the estimated cost of the project is USD 300 million and ADB will provide USD 100 million.
