The single lane road would be expanded into double lanes to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
According to sources, the provincial minister for local government Shahram Khan Tarakai has been instrumental to the approval of funds. Reconstruction of the road has been a longstanding demand of the people of Swabi and Mardan. The reconstruction work of the project is expected to begin soon.
The current provincial government had promised to rebuild the road in Election 2018.
The road was first built three decades ago. It has also been repaired several times in the past by Frontier Highway Authority. However, none of the previous provincial governments had reconstructed and expanded it.
