Rawalpindi: Secretary Housing Punjab Nadeem Mehboob recently revealed Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General Ammara Khan’s recommendation to the Punjab government to transfer the funds reserved for the Ammar Shaheed Chowk over to the Chaklala Cantonment Board — a news source reported.

Funds of PKR 788 million have been allocated for the all-important Ammar Shaheed Chowk located in the Chaklala Cantonment area. After the funds have been transferred, the project will be launched under the supervision of the Chaklala Board. The project to remodel and construct Ammar Shaheed Chowk has been in the works for over 12 years.

The decision to transfer the funds from the RDA to the Chaklala Cantonment Board was made by the Provincial Development Working Party. The meeting was chaired by the Planning & Development Chairman.
The remodelling and construction of a tunnel is expected to improve the traffic situation in the area. The intersection leads to Kachehri Chowk, Jinnah Park, Jhanda Chichi, Chaklala Scheme III, and Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
