Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Muhammad Arif Abbasi revealed that PKR 4 billion has been allocated to acquire the land for initiation of the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project by the Government of Punjab, according to a news source.

For the construction of overhead bridges at three points of Airport Road, a sum of PKR 20 million has been allocated, and PKR 50 million has been allocated for the Amar Chowk improvement project.
RDA has also earmarked an amount of PKR 5 million to extend aid to the families of the employees who lose their lives during their services for the department. The department has prioritised the development and beautification of Rawalpindi city through multiple development and green initiatives. New saplings are being planted in almost all union councils, locales, roads, streets and parks. For public convenience, RDA has also uploaded the status and approved Layout Plans (LOP) of private housing schemes on its website.

Chairman Abbasi also revealed that RDA has generated a record revenue of PKR 247.3 million, against the target sum of PKR 228.6 million for FY 2018-19. He further said that the department had earmarked PKR 264 million for expenditure, but was able to save PKR 94.3 million in the current fiscal year with effective austerity measures.
Chairman RDA also revealed that the department was in touch with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) about a wrongful income tax deduction, amounting to PKR 329.072 million and expressed hope for successful recovery of the deducted sum.
