Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Monday allocated funds for several road projects in order to promote tourism in Malakand and Hazara divisions, a news source reported. To this effect, the provincial government has announced its decision to spend PKR 4,400 million on the repairs and construction work on different roads in the two divisions.

According to details, the KP government aims to revive tourism in the province in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. For this purpose, the provincial government has allocated significant amount of funds in the financial budget 2020-21. This amount includes funds for repairing and constructing the communication infrastructure for tourist destinations in Malakand and Hazara.
On the other hand, the KP government has allocated PKR 3,000 million for developing tourist sites in Tirah Valley of Khyber, Parachinar in Kurrum, Samona in Orakzai, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan. Meanwhile, the federal government has directed the provincial government to prepare the master plans of five feasibility studies for the development of tourism resorts at Kohi Suleman in Dera Ismail (DI) Khan, Chapri Parachinar in Kurrum, Sheikh Badin, and Takhat Bhai in Mardan districts.

Sources said that KP government was going to prepare these master plans on the pattern of Integrated Tourism Zones. They added that camping huts had been established in the remote scenic areas of the province for addressing the residential problems faced by domestic and foreign tourists.
