Lahore: The authorities concerned have allocated funds worth PKR 450 million to acquire land for the development of the Firdous Market Underpass project — with 7 kanals of land along the Ali Zaib Road expected to be acquired for the venture, a news source reported.

The project has been designed to address issues with traffic congestion at the intersection. Reportedly, Lahore Deputy Commissioner Danish Afzal has finalised the per marla rate of the property marked for acquisition. Sources also claim that the said amount has also been transferred to the deputy commissioner’s office.

For the purpose of land acquisition, the provincial government has also issued a Section 4 notification against 18 plots on Ali Zaib Road. The authority working on the project have estimated that PKR 450 million would be required to acquire 7 kanals of land; with the Lahore Development Authority approving the funds earlier in February.

Moreover, in January, it was reported that the National Engineering Services of Pakistan would be in charge of preparing the design for the underpass project.
