Lahore: The fundraising campaign for construction of Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dam now has the “I am Pakistan Movement” (IPM) on board to mobilise overseas Pakistanis, reported a news source. The movement aims to motivate Pakistanis residing overseas to donate money for the construction of dams.
At the same time, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar and Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan have also set up funds, which, as of December 28, have received PKR 8.935 billion in the form of donations. CJP will also be visiting eight countries next March for fundraising campaigns; these trips are being organized by IPM.
Commenting on the campaign initiated by CJP for construction of water reservoirs in the country, IPM Chairman Syed Ahmed said that the expected funds in the next two months will be even better. IPM President Nayyar Rizwi said that visits organised for fundraising are being financed by the organisation. He also mentioned that if overseas Pakistanis start giving USD 1,000 each, the set targets can be met much earlier.
