Islamabad: Officials from Pakistan and Turkey are in talks to draft a Free-Trade Agreement between the two countries, according to a news source. This will increase the economic integration between the stakeholders and concerned authorities on both sides.
An official at the Commerce Division listed the steps taken towards this FTA to improve economic relations with Turkey. One of the items on the list is the first ever single country exhibition to be held soon by the Turkish Pakistan Tourism Council, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Lahore Chamber and other relevant associations.
The two countries are in bilateral talks for a preferential market access arrangement to increase trade. More talks are planned in a High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) meeting in Islamabad.
The FTA will also tackle the duties imposed by Turkey. Seven rounds of discussion have already been held regarding economic cooperation between the two countries, and significant progress has been made.
