Peshawar: Pakistan Railways is planning to restore the freight train from Peshawar to Karachi in a bid to facilitate trade and businesses, according to news published in the national dailies on February 8.

Pakistan Railways’ Peshawar Divisional Superintendent (DS) Muhammad Nasir Khalily has requested the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) to share data and details of potential sectors to resume the cargo train service from Peshawar as soon as possible. He went on to say that the Railways are a useful and fast transportation means across the world.

Moreover, SCCI President Muhammad Ishaq stated that the exports and imports consignments were easily and promptly carried out through railways. He further added that the PR will earn huge revenue once the cargo train services were resumed from Peshawar. He hoped the department will become profitable after the freight services are restored. The DS Railways reiterated that the PR will put in all efforts to utilise the available resources to facilitate the business community and resolve their issues on priority.
