Lahore: The Federal Minister for Pakistan Railways Sheikh Rasheed announced a 10% reduction in freight train fares, during a press conference on Thursday, according to news sources.
He also stated that the 1,872 kilometre-long Main Line One (ML-1) track from Karachi to Lahore will be a historic project that will mark the 72-year history of the nation. Minister Rasheed announced that this project will create 100,000 new employment opportunities. He announced that a Railway Food Court will also be launched from December 25 as well.

He said that this new project will reduce the travel time from Lahore to Karachi to six hours, and to eight hours from Rawalpindi to Karachi.

In response to a question about the recent Tezgam Express incident, the minister revealed that the heirs of the deceased will be given PKR 1.5 million.
