Faisalabad: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) President Mian Anjum Nisar and Vice President Sheikh Sultan Rehman have requested the government to provide gas connection to new industrial units in the country, according to a news report.

They further requested the government to ensure uninterrupted supply of gas to existing industries in order to meet export targets. They said that stoppage of gases to the industrial estate of Karachi resulted is productivity losses which, in turn, led to failure in meeting export orders on time. These cause financial losses to the exporters as they have to ship by air to meet the deadlines.

They urged the government to support the industry which is undergoing a tough period. They feared that failure to supply uninterrupted gas could lead to closure of the industry; which could lead to increased unemployment and serious law and order situation.
