Islamabad: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has announced its unconditional support for Kalabagh Dam as the facility is imperative for survival of Pakistan, a news source reported. The federation also appreciated the Supreme Court (SC)’s efforts over water issues on Kalabagh Dam.
In a joint statement issued on Friday, the FPCCI’s acting President Atif Ikram Sheikh and Vice President Kaim Aziz Malik said that the project, which was proposed 60 years ago, could not be implemented due to certain issues.
While the FPCCI’s president and vice president attribute the SC’s efforts as a ray of hope for the water-starved country, they believe that in a developing country like Pakistan, issues related to power and water shortage should be addressed on a priority basis.
