Islamabad: Federal Minister for Industries & Production Hammad Azhar on Thursday said that the Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy for four-wheel vehicles was expected soon, a news source reported. He said that work was already underway on this policy and that the cabinet would receive the proposal for the initiative after consultations with the ministers of Climate Change and Science & Technology.

Expressing these remarks on the four-wheel EV Policy, Azhar added that work was also underway for reviewing the prevalent policy for the automotive sector. He said that that Engineering Development Board and the Ministry of Industries were collaborating on this task. He highlighted that both departments were exploring options to mitigate the practice of automakers charging a premium due to overbooking of vehicles.

Earlier, Federal Minister for Science & Technology Fawad Chaudhry had stated that standards for vehicles manufactured in Pakistan had been set. He had added that that these would be submitted for the cabinet’s approval within a month.
