Islamabad: The capital administration has set up four ration warehouses to provide food essentials to the needy in the city, a news source reported. The administration has launched this initiative in an effort to support the underprivileged during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Hamza Shafqaat revealed that the four ration warehouses are located in Bhara Kahu, Tarnol, I-11/4, and Taramri. He added that more would soon open in other parts of Islamabad.
Additionally, the administration has begun 15 mobile dastarkhawan facilities for the distribution of cooked meals. He stated that these would be open at Polyclinic, F-11/2, F-10/2 Service Road, F-6 water plant near Kulsoom International, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, F-10 Markaz, Al-Mustafa Tower in F-10, G-10 water plants near Babri Masjid, AlipurFarash, Faizabad, Taramri Chowk, Khanna Bridge, and Aabpara Market.

The DC iterated that only the underprivileged individuals would receive food items free of cost from these ration warehouses. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Saylani and Ehsaas Programmes have helped set up these facilities in the city. The DC said that people could also play their role by donating edible goods.
