Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has notified its receipt of bids from four consortiums comprising of international town planning firms for the revision of Islamabad’s master plan, according to a news report published on November 23.

As per the CDA officials, the contract for the revision of Islamabad’s master plan will be awarded to the lowest bidding firm following the completion of financial evaluations by the civic agency. It was also revealed that the four consortiums consisted of representatives from 11 companies. The PC-I of the project was estimated to cost PKR 600 million and will be awarded to a qualified firm with the lowest biding.

The original master plan of the capital city was prepared in 1960 and was supposed to be upgraded every 20 years. To date, successive governments have introduced as many as 40 selective changes to that master plan, but without proper consultations from the town planning agencies concerned.
