The foundation stone of the world’s third-largest mosque was laid in Bahria Town Karachi on January 6. In this regard, a ceremony was held which a large number of real estate agents from Karachi attended. Several other well-known people from the real estate sector, including Mr Ali Malik Riaz, the son of Mr Malik Riaz and Chief Executive of Bahria Town, also attended the ceremony.
The highlight of the event was the groundbreaking at the mosque site, performed by Mr Nosherwan, the oldest employee of Bahria Town. The humble, 76-year-old gentleman had the honour of laying the foundation stone of the mosque and made it a lasting memory for everyone with an interest in Bahria Town, the largest real estate developer of South Asia.
Bahria Town has already had the honour of building the world’s 7th largest mosque in Bahria Town Lahore, and this project in Karachi is its latest milestone. Although no estimates have been provided by the authority as to the construction cost of this mosque, it is likely to cost billions of rupees.
The acclaimed architect Mr Nayyar Ali Dada has designed this mosque, in which around 800,000 worshippers will be able to offer prayers. To ensure the mosque’s security, CCTV cameras and walk-through gates will be installed as well. A dedicated air-conditioning plant will also be installed for this mosque, which will boast an amalgam of Mughal and general Islamic architecture. The mosque will also feature an international-standard Islamic museum with rare Qur’anic scriptures and an institute of Islamic research.
Below are some pictures from the ceremony as well as fresh pictures from the site:
Seeing the oldest employee being the chief guest for this ground breaking ceremony makes me respect Bahria town and its management. thumbs up!
