Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Mohsin Naqvi marked the beginning of a new era in sustainable energy by officially initiating the construction of Pakistan’s largest biogas plant at Gujjar Colony, Lahore, reported by a news source on October 26.

The details entail that the development came to light during a ceremony, which included the laying of the foundation stone, symbolized a significant stride toward a cleaner and greener future for the region. This ground-breaking project, estimated at a cost of PKR 350 million, holds immense promise for both the local economy and the environment. The biogas plant, spanning 6000 cubic meters, is anticipated to generate an annual revenue of PKR 80 million.

Furthermore, what sets this initiative apart is its innovative approach to waste management – utilizing the manure from approximately 24,000 livestock in Gujjar Colony, the plant will produce 1600 kg of fuel-grade gas and 16 tonnes of natural fertilizers every day. This dual-benefit system not only mitigates pollution but also addresses the pressing challenge of waste disposal in the area.
