Islamabad: The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif laid the foundation for construction of the 7.5-kilometer-long Alexander Road in Islamabad and also inaugurated the Margalla Avenue, a news source reported on June 21.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is set to begin construction work on Alexander Road, also known as Sikandar-i-Azam Road. As per the details, the said road will start from Shah Allah Ditta and culminate near an archaeological site known as Alexander’s Well, situated on the border of Haripur. The project’s completion period, as per the PC-I, is six months, but the CDA had set a deadline of four months. This road construction project falls under the rural area development package, which has received approval from the federal government. A budget of PKR 10 billion has been allocated for the development work in rural areas.

Moreover, PM Sharif inaugurated Margalla Avenue, a 10.5-kilometer-long road that was opened for traffic in December 2022. However, some pending work remains, including the installation of fencing to ensure a hassle-free avenue.
