Dera Ghazi Khan: The Fort Munro Development Authority has issued notices to land grabbers occupying government land and managements of illegal housing societies, a news source reported. It has asked these individuals to halt construction activities in Takht Sulaiman in Dera Ghazi Khan district.

As per officials, Fort Munro is the only hill station in south Punjab that was established during the British rule. They said that land grabbers had taken control of over 44 government properties. They added that the authority recently issued notices to 600 land grabbers and managements of 15 illegal housing societies.
According to reports, over the past decades, an increasing number of illegal construction and land grabbing has led to the deterioration of the environment of the hill station due to mismanagement of sewerage and other waste.

As per the officials, the condition of the lakes is deplorable. Lake Tirmu and the gardens it was located in have almost vanished while Lake Dames is contaminated. Unplanned construction nearby has also blocked rainwater from replenishing the water bodies.
