Peshawar: The formation of Peshawar Walled City Authority is on the cards to preserve heritage sites and old buildings in the city’s older parts, reported a news source. This information was shared by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Senior Minister for Tourism, Sports, Culture, Archaeology, Museum and Youth Affairs Muhammad Atif Khan while he addressed a conference held by Institute of Architects.
Khan said that the province is home to hundreds of years of old buildings, which can be preserved and attract tourist, for which related measures are being taken. He also believes that the tourism sector can generate much more revenue than it currently does as KP is rich in natural beauty. To reap these benefits, Government of KP is paying special attention to the sector.
Talking about sports facilities in the province, Khan revealed that the provincial government is looking to set up 1,000 sports ground throughout KP. He also instructed the sports department to spot government-owned land for setting up sports ground for the purpose of engaging youth in healthy activities.
