Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) is set to form the Leh Nullah Development Authority (LNDA) to tackle annual monsoon flooding in Nullah Leh, news sources reported on August 30.

According to the details, the decision was taken on the directives of the provincial government and in this regard, a summary has been formulated to be presented for final approval from the provincial legislature. The creation of LNDA would improve policy formulation and infrastructure management along Nullah Leh to prevent urban flooding.
Furthermore, according to the officials privy of the details has said that the previously proposed PC-I of 16.5 kilometres long Leh Nullah Expressway and Flood Channel has also been sent for the final approval from the Planning and Development Board of Punjab. On July 4, the Punjab Working Development Party (PWDP) approved the formation of the Project Management Unit (PMU) for the PKR 65 billion Leh Expressway and Flood Channel Project.

However, RDA is also carrying out a feasibility study for the formation of an Economic Zone (EZ) along Nullah Leh. However, the expressway project will not start until the EZ study is not completed.
