As per the sources, the CDA has decided to get these ECs audited after several reports surfaced about landowners surrendering their ECs to get agro farms in the capital city. The authority wrote the letter to the AGP office on Monday. The letter states that several EC awardees surrendered their certificates and were allotted residential plots/agro farms by CDA under clause 7(2) of Islamabad Displaced Persons Rehabilitation Policy 1996 after EC’s cancellation.

In addition to the issuance of ECs for land in colony districts, the CDA also compensated people by allotting plots against the acquired land and built-up property. The authority’s letter to AGP revealed that land spreading over 304.62 kilometres had been acquired through individual awards. As many as 527 awards have been given by the CDA against the acquired land whereas 158 awards have been given for built-up properties.
