This audit deals with the Section 10 of the Cooperative Societies Act, 1925. An Interior Ministry official spoke to the media and said that most societies aren’t developed to uphold the commitments made with the people who invested in them. A few developers took over the amenities plots, reserved for mosques, parks or schools, in the initial plans.
As per sources, these audits are being conducted in light of Supreme Court (SC) directions, issued in 2017. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad prepared terms of reference (TORs) to conduct these audits, and has concluded reports for 6 societies already.
