Islamabad: During the first month of the fiscal year 2018-19, foreign remittance sent home by overseas Pakistanis has gone up by 21%, reported a news source. Experts believe that the rise is noticed due to the new government taking the oath and the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
According to details, the remittance sent home by overseas Pakistanis in July 2017 was recorded at USD 1.54 billion while the figures recorded during July 2018 stand at USD 1.93 billion. Commenting on this, Pakistan Economy Watch President Dr Murtaza Mughal said that non-resident Pakistanis play a crucial role in the country’s economy and they are always ready to lend any financial support Pakistan needs.
Islamabad Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Amir Waheed encouraged the new government to form a policy regarding Pakistanis residing all across the globe as this will help win their trust and increase the amount of remittance sent home. He also said that political stability is one of the reasons behind this impressive rise in remittance.
