Lahore: Foreign investors are keen to invest in Pakistan’s energy, housing and infrastructure sectors, a news source quoted Board of Investment (BOI) Chairman Haroon Sharif. He said this during a meeting with Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Jawan Bakhat Hashim.
Sharif informed the finance minister that several delegations of investors from China and UAE will visit Pakistan in the coming days and the Board of Investment will apprise them of Punjab’s investment climate.
He was of the view that Punjab provides better investment opportunities to foreign investors as it has a more developed infrastructure as well as industrial zones. He added that the government has begun automation of taxation and online registration of properties.
The BOI chairman said utmost efforts are being made to reform the primary and industrial sectors, adding that the government is keen to enhance investment opportunities by promoting public-private partnership. He said Punjab is providing financial support to small and medium-sized enterprises, agriculture, industry and skilled persons.
