Lahore: Lahore Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Tuesday held a meeting with Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) Director General Kamran Lashari and discussed the transformation of MM Alam Road, according to news sources.

The meeting discussed and reviewed the beautification and renovation of different parts of the city including; Mall Road, MM Alam Road Food Street, Gwalmandi Food Street, Anarkali Food Street, Government College University (GCU) Chowk and Urdu Bazar Chowk.
According to a WCLA official, the open spaces and footpaths on the said road will be transformed into a sit-out style food street. For the M M Alam Road food street project, the available spaces in Main Market, Liberty Market and Mall One will also be used. It was highlighted that the concept has already been implemented in food street adjacent to Lahore Fort and Badshahi Mosque.

The meeting was also informed that a park (designed like Greater Iqbal Park) will be developed on the empty land of the LDA and Irrigation Department next to Noor Jahan Tomb and Jahangir Tomb – which will extend from G T Road to Ravi River. The meeting also instructed for the expedited development work on the restoration of 12 gates inside Lahore.
