Gujrat: The government recently forwarded a proposal to construct a bridge over the Saeen Raja level crossing — in a bid to connect the GT Road with a bypass to the city, and to ensure better traffic flow at Gujrat’s main entry and exit points, according to news sources.
This newly proposed flyover has been made part of the plans to make the GT Road, particularly the section between Rehmania Bridge and Kathala Chenab, a signal-free corridor. The project cost of this signal-free corridor has been estimated to be around PKR 3 billion.

The decision to construct this bridge was made due to the rapid expansion (trade centres, industrial units and housing schemes) being made since the GT road bypass was built. This flyover also has the added benefit of connecting the rural and urban parts of the city.

Earlier in 2016, authorities had proposed that an underpass be constructed at the site; however this plan was never approved. Now that a bridge is being constructed in its place, as per regulations, a no-objection certificate (NoC) will be required from the railway department to finally begin development.
