Dera Ghazi Khan: Dera Ghazi Khan (DGK) Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha announced that the survey regarding the assessment of flood damages for payment of financial assistance for the affectees in DGK and Rajanpur districts is almost complete and funds will soon be released, according to news published on October 27.

As per the commissioner, the financial assistance for the flood victims of the two districts will be carried out through Punjab bank without the requirement of opening accounts. It was announced that the release of the funds will commence before the end of the current month.
Moreover, Commissioner Chatha revealed that financial assistance will be offered through SMS to the people who registered for it, which was why there is no need for them to be the Punjab bank’s account holders.

It was also announced that the bank will temporarily open 25 branches in the flood-affected areas to further assist the people. As per the survey, as many as 60,000 houses have been damaged by the flood and PKR 20 billion is estimated to be required for the rehabilitation efforts. A sum of PKR 400,000 for every damaged brick house and PKR 200,000 for each mud house will be paid.
