Mirpur: The Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) cabinet approved the preparation of a five-year working plan for the uplifting of the state on Tuesday, a news report stated. This working plan will focus on the development and self-reliance of the state.
Several senior officials of the AJK government attended the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan. The meeting discussed the bulk budget spent on basic infrastructure within a time period of two and half years.

Decisions included spending the next five-year development budget on significant projects related to education, production, potable water, sanitation, power supply, and skill development. Further discussions featured income generation. The AJK government has decided to contribute to an annual development programme from its income.
The meeting also approved amendments in AJK Supplementary Finance Act. Under this act, amendments to Income Tax Ordinance 2001, sales tax, and budget 2018-2019 for federal excise duty by federal government will be applicable.
Additionally, the meeting approved an act regarding AJK Bank and a formal booklet featuring the state’s economic figures. The cabinet was briefed about the transparent use of development funds and completion of the standard reconditioning of AJK’s highways.

Information was shared on over 7,000 completed small projects and distribution of over 1,500 transformers. This was accomplished under the Prime Minister Community Infrastructure Programme. Work on skilled development, production, and industrial development is also underway in several areas of AJK.
