The said five-year development plan for GB involves major sectors like agriculture, infrastructure, health, tourism, education, higher education, energy and gems/precious stones. The aforementioned function – titled “Socio-Economic Development of Gilgit-Baltistan” – was jointly organised by the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives and the Planning & Development Department of GB.

Moreover, Jehanzeb highlighted that the incumbent government has taken various steps to facilitate the public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement, in certain mega projects, to develop the province’s social sector and “mainstreaming of the vulnerable and socially excluded population”.
Meanwhile, the function asked for an infallible and realistic implementation strategy to realise the proposed plans and programmes. It was emphasised that institutional reforms would play a key role in the region’s development and the roles of each should be clearly underlined – before unveiling the five-year plan.
