Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has set up five shelter homes in the provincial capital, a news source reported. Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the fifth shelter home on Pajagi Road.
The shelter homes have a proper electricity and sanitation system as well as medical care facilities. The shelter homes can accommodate over 430 people, who would be provided with free food.
Social Welfare Department Secretary Muhammad Idrees Marwat said that the shelters homes have been established in Peshawar at Kohat Adda, Charsadda Road, Karkhano, Hajji Camp, and Pajagi Road.
The governments of Punjab and Sindh have already established shelter homes in their respective provincial capitals. In Lahore, shelter homes have been set up at Datta Darbar, Railway Station, Thokar Niaz Baig, Lari Adda, and Fruits and Vegetables Market.
In Rawalpindi, the authorities concerned have set up a shelter home on the basement floor of a parking plaza in Raja Bazaar. The project’s executing agency, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), has also installed CCTV cameras.
