Multan: The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) has set up five new utility stores and launched five mobile shops in the Multan District for the timely provision of food essentials to facilitate the general public, a news source reported.

As per the publication, Multan Region Manager Chaudhry Sajjad and District Manager Tehseen Khan Babar informed that the utility stores were set up in Gulgahst Colony, MDA Chowk, Lothar, Qadirpur Raan and Band-Bosan. They further informed that the authorities had made all the needed arrangements and the newly established branches would become functional from April 17.

It was also revealed that the mobile versions of the utility stores will visit various areas of the district during the COVID-19 lockdown for provision of essential food items. The two USC managers also confirmed that the corporation has completed its target of PKR 240 million sales for March. They further highlighted that PKR 190 million worth provisions including pulses, ghee and flour were sold in the district. The USC is running a total of 90 utility stores in the Multan district, they added.

Previously, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) had approved PKR 50 billion relief package for the USC to provide essential food items at reduced prices.
