Karachi: The State Minister for Communications Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has announced that the first phase of the Green Line Bus Project in Karachi will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in May, according to a news report. The first phase of Green Line extends from Surjani Town to Numaish Chowrangi. It is set to be inaugurated in May this year. The minister announced this in a meeting at the Karachi office of the National Highway Authority (NHA).
The second phase which extends from Numaish Chowrangi to Merewether Tower will be completed by year end and will facilitate 400,000 passengers each day, according to the Minister. He was also briefed that of 21 main bus stations, 14 will be complete for the first phase. The Minister was also informed that land for a bus depot at Surjani Town is yet to be given to Karachi Infrastructure Development Company Limited by the Sindh government.
