Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Wednesday initiated the city’s first kitchen gardening project by distributing steel-framed kitchen plantation racks among 50 households in Mohalla Waris Khan, a news source reported.

The RDA has launched the kitchen gardening project in collaboration with the Pak Helpline and IHH-NL – a Turkish non-governmental organisation (NGO). The ceremony for distributing the kitchen gardening racks took place at the authority’s headquarters.
Speaking at the ceremony, RDA Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza welcomed the Turkish Ambassador Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul as the chief guest and further extended his appreciation to him for launching the project in the city. He concluded by thanking the IHH-NL for its support to the project.

Moreover, the chairman highlighted that the objective of these small-scale social sector projects in the country was to provide jobs for better livelihoods. He added that the kitchen gardening project would also provide organic vegetables – improving health and cutting down expenses.
