Quetta: In a significant development, the Balochistan government has introduced a groundbreaking inter-city bus service by launching a fleet of eight eco-friendly buses, according to news published on July 18. This marks the first-ever initiative of its kind in the city providing sustainable transportation options for the residents.

The news source revealed that the Green Bus Service, a public-private partnership initiative, was inaugurated in Quetta. Initially, eight buses have been purchased by the government to provide modern transportation facilities to the people of Quetta. The number of buses will soon be increased to 20, covering more routes within the provincial capital.
As per the details, the buses will operate between BUITEMS and Balochistan University, covering 18.7-kilometre with 18 stops. The chief secretary stated that there are plans to expand the service to other towns and cities in Balochistan in the future.

Moreover, the air-conditioned buses will have designated seats for disabled individuals and women, with a capacity of 30 passengers per bus. The fare for a one-way trip has been set at PKR 30, which is lower than the PKR 50 charged by private transporters.
