Islamabad: The first British Airways flight landed at Islamabad airport after the airline had stopped operations for over a decade, a news source reported. Flying in from Heathrow International Airport, London, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner carried 249 passengers. It later departed for Heathrow again.

As British Airways resumes its operations, flights will fly thrice a week between Heathrow and Islamabad during the ongoing summer season.
After making a successful landing, the passengers of the first flight were welcomed by Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Advisor to PM on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, and Special Assistant to PM on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfiqar Hussain Bukhari. Senior officials of the Aviation Division and the British High Commission were also present at the occasion.

Sarwar, Dawood, along with Special Assistant to PM on Information & Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan, held a press conference with British High Commissioner Thomas Drew, Chief Commercial Officer British Airways Andrew Brem and the Aviation Secretary later in the day.
