Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has announced shortlisting five firms – out of the 12 who applied for the prequalification process – for the construction of the Firdous Market Underpass, a news source reported. As per the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, the authority is focused towards laying the project’s foundation stone by the end of this month.

The five firms that ticked LDA’s prequalification criteria include MAAKSONS, National Logistic Cells (NLC), IKan Engineering, Sarwar Bhatti & Company and Habib Construction Company.
To further proceed with the project’s development and initiate construction work, LDA Chief Engineer Habib-ul-Haq Randhawa will be hearing public objections on the project’s environment impact and other aspects that concern the people at large on April 23 at LDA Sports Complex in Johar Town.

As per the details previously shared by the development authority, the project is estimated to cost PKR 2 billion, while the National Engineering Services of Pakistan has prepared the design for the underpass. For this purpose, however, the LDA will also have to acquire 7 Kanals of land.
