Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority is all set to open bids for the Firdous Market Underpass project today, a news source reported. To this effect, the civic agency held a pre-bid meeting on Saturday (May 9).

LDA Chief Engineer Habib-ul-Haq Randhawa presided over the session, which was also attended by six prequalified firms. The contractors submitted their proposals for the development of the project.
Speaking on the occasion, Randhawa said that the Firdous Market Chowk will not be closed during the development of the project. Traffic will be allowed during four months of construction. After the completion of underpass, more than 1 million vehicles will use the underpass on a daily basis.

The project has been estimated to cost PKR 1.72 billion. The work on the project was halted during the coronavirus lockdown and the construction has now resumed.
