Lahore: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General (DG) Ahmed Aziz Tarar paid a visit to the construction site of Firdous Market Underpass on Friday (July 17), where LDA Chief Engineer Habib-ul-Haq Randhawa briefed him regarding the project work at the underpass, which has been completed by 50%, a news source reported.

According to Randhawa, piling work on 770 out of a total of 880 piles has been completed, while the rest of the work will be completed in another week. At the same time, theconstruction of the 350-kilometre long retaining wall has also been completed. In addition to that, the Water and Sanitation Authority (WASA) has also completed the work to lay an 18-inch-wide sewerage line

As per the details shared by the LDA Chief Engineering, the following tasks at the Firdous Market Underass construction site are underway:
- Digging work at the entry points of the underpass
- Demolition of the old drain lines
- Relocation of gas supply lines

After receiving the briefing, the LDA DG directed the project director Iqrar Hussain to take all measures necessary for the timely completion of the project. He also instructed the director to place a proper rain drainage system in order to ensure that the project faces no lags.
