Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Ahmed Khan Buzdar laid the project’s foundation stone on May 18 to help relief traffic load on the central avenue that links Gulberg with Cant, Kalma Chowk, Jail Road and various other parts of the city.
The 1 billion project is expected to be in four months. The 52-feet wide underpass will be 540 metres long and it will have a 2-lane dual carriageway. In order to make this project feasible, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has acquired 7 kanals of land along Ali Zaib road at a cost of PKR 450 million. Funds for land acquisition were approved in February while the Section 5 notification to start the process of land acquisition was issued in April.
