Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Finance Taimur Saleem Khan Jhagra has launched the pilot phase of the Public Financial Management Professional Accreditation Programme for government officials of KP and Balochistan, a news source reported. The programme, which is a joint initiative of KP and Balochistan governments, and the World Bank (WB), has been launched in Islamabad.

The provincial governments have initiated the pilot under their Governance & Policy Programme. As per sources, this programme has been financed by the USA, UK, Australia, Finland, Denmark, Italy, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Turkey, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, and the European Union (EU).
On the occasion, Jhagra said that officials require financial management capacity for efficient utilisation of resources. He added this is important for delivering cost-effective service to the public.
Sources have reported that the training programme will provide skills pertaining to management of public expenditure to the officials. It will include topics as follows:
- Accounting
- Budgeting
- Cash management
- Project management
- Debt management
- Procurement
- Auditing
- Performance management
- Reforms
- Public-private partnerships

The Pakistan Audit & Accounts Academy will begin training the first batch of 30 government officials starting from July 15, 2019 in Lahore. The training will be conducted over a three-week residential course.
