According to FBR spokeswoman Asad Tahir Cheema, the online site for tax return submission ‘IRIS’ is operational and is working properly. He stated that the deadline for filing yearly tax returns is October 15, with no further extensions being considered. He also clarified that the last extension from September 30 to October 15 was offered due to the breakdown of the FBR online tax return system IRIS, which compelled the board to offer some extra time to filers.

However, the IRIS is operational and fully functional at present, so people should file their returns before tomorrow to avoid any monetary penalties. It is worth noting that prior to the extension of the deadline, the board recorded the largest number of tax filings on September 28, reaching up to 150,000 in a single day.
