Gujranwala: The district administration has given 72 hours to the officials concerned to launch a grand operation against encroachments, a news source reported. A special squad has been formed to achieve the task.
Mayor Municipal Corporation Sarwat Ikram said the land mafia has installed sheds and other encroachment outside their shops on GT Road and other areas of the city.
Despite repeated attempts by the authorities concerned to clear Gujranwala of encroachments, encroachments reappear in the city. This has become a source of nuisance for the pedestrians and often results in traffic congestion.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Government has directed the departments concerned to remove leftover building material and encroachments from all neighbourhoods and streets in Gujranwala.
The operation is part of the Clean and Green Pakistan campaign launched by Prime Minister Imran Khan. The campaign aims to create a clean and safe environment for the masses through tree plantation and waste disposal.
