KARACHI: The final master plan of DHA City Karachi (DCK), an upcoming residential-cum-commercial project on Super Highway, was unveiled in a special meeting of DHA’s Executive Board, chaired by its president Lt Gen Zahirul Islam, held here on Monday.
A DHA statement said that the Executive Board appreciated the DCK Master Plan and development strategy prepared by a consortium of leading national and international firms comprising of Doxiadis (Greece), RMJM (UK) and Osmani & Company, according to the international engineering and architectural standards setting the pace for development of a most modern and well planned city of the country.
It said that the DCK project spread over an area of 11,640 acres of land was conceived in 2005 while balloting for more than 27,000 residential and commercial plots was held in end-2009. The master plan completed in a record period of 12 months comprehensively caters for the needs and aspirations of its prospective residents. DCK model showcase a high quality of living for its residents that would potentially serve as a model Pakistan city of 21st Century.
Administrator DHA Brig Aamer Raza Qureshi informed the Executive Board that DCK will be made a liveable entity in 3-4 years for which a development strategy has been formulated comprising of an immediate action plan to make DCK site operational (2011-2012), short-term development plan comprising primary infrastructure and facilities development (2012-2015), mid-term development plan (2015-2020) and long-term development plan comprising complete development and consolidation of area (2020-2030) to be executed on a fast track basis.
Lt Gen Zahirul Islam commended the erstwhile and dedicated efforts of the experts of consortium of town planning firms for completing DCK Master Plan model in a most professional manner for making a modern mini city within a city that will accommodate the future residential and commercial expansion of the metropolis.
