Final bids submitted for Lahore Ring Road Southern Loop

I have been updating you all on the ins and outs of Lahore Ring Road (LRR)’s southern loop from time to time. Today, I have come to know about another development, which I thought of sharing with you. Please read on to find out what it is.

A local and an international firm have submitted their final bids to the Lahore Ring Road Authority (LRRA) for the development of LRR’s southern loop. The victor will be announced before August 13.

According to a news source, a high-profile meeting to accept the bids was recently held at Cricket House, Lahore with the LRRA chief engineer in the chair. Reportedly, P&D Director Mr Fayaz Ahmed, LRRA Finance Director Mr Shahzad Aziz, Chief Project Engineer Mr Zulfiqar Moeen, Nespak Project Coordinator Mr RA Qazi, Nespak Project Engineer Mr Abdul Qayyum, China Estate Construction Executive Engineer Mr Losho Teeng, NLC Project Director Col (r) Tariq and Habib Construction Services Director Mr Mohsin Hussain attended the meeting.

China Estate Construction LLC, a Chinese development company, in collaboration with Habib Construction Services, submitted its respective pre-qualification, technical and financial bids.

The bid value is set be Rs 30 billion to Rs 35 billion and the Punjab government plans to develop the project on a build-transfer basis.

The authorities concerned plan to complete the project within 2 years. But the owners, investors and other stakeholders of the societies along the proposed route of the southern loop are a little confused about the development.

Perhaps, property owners will also have to sacrifice their properties for this much-needed infrastructure development.
