Islamabad: A spokesperson for the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) recently announced that in an effort to help Pakistan tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, China has sent five planes filled with relief supplies to the country — with the fifth such plane arriving on Sunday (March 29), a news source reported.

The supplies were handed over to the NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Afzal at the airport by the Chinese Ambassador in Pakistan. A team of Chinese doctors also arrived in the country for the same purpose, and will remain in Pakistan for an estimated two weeks.
During the time of their stay, they will advise the local healthcare specialists on the basis of their expertise in tackling the novel coronavirus in China.

China has, so far, aided Pakistan with 12,000 test kits, 300,000 masks, 10,000 protective suits and USD 4 million to build an isolation hospital. The Xinjiang government has also provided 50,000 masks each to the Islamabad and Sindh governments.
According to recent reports, China, the initial epicentre of the human coronavirus, has been largely successful in controlling the virus within its country.
