Islamabad: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to investigate 65 housing societies situated in the capital city – a news source reported.
To facilitate this end, the agency has prepared a set of notices. The owners of the housing schemes in question will be notified of this development. FIA’s corporate circle will launch inquiries into the matter.

FIA previously prepared a list of housing schemes operating nationwide. In January, it submitted a forensic audit report detailing the specifics of the said schemes in the Supreme Court.
According to the report, at least 6,072 housing societies established inside the country were illegal. It said that the number of registered housing societies stood at 3,053.

Of those registered, at least 667 were cooperative schemes. Similarly, the number of societies which had applied for registration was 1,716. Moreover, FIA in its report sought legal action against 3,720 illegal schemes.
