Peshawar: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Health Care Commission (HCC) to take action against illegal health facilities across the province, according to a news source. Justice Qaiser Rasheed and Justice Ahmad Ali issued these instructions.

The two-judge bench also instructed the authorities concerned to not just focus on Peshawar, but also to extend this crackdown to all other divisions in KP. It set December 17 as the next hearing date for this case, and instructed the FIA and HCC to seal all unapproved health facilities carrying out illegal health activities with untrained staff.

The bench observed that there were private hospitals and operation theatres built in rental houses, with untrained staff and no proper facilities. It stated that this constituted as a health hazard, due to the risk of infection with the usage of unsterilized surgical equipment and used syringes.
The officers present were instructed to expand their crackdown operations to Kohat, Chitral, Dera Ismail Khan, and other areas.
