Gujranwala: In order to improve traffic flow and prevent road accidents, work to install fences along GT Road in Gujranwala and its vicinity has started, according to a news source. The project is being funded by the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce.

The project is estimated to cost PKR 3.2 million. The main purpose of fencing the GT Road is to block way for pedestrian looking to cross the busy road since this causes disruption in traffic flow and results in accidents.

In order to facilitate the pedestrians, the plan includes the construction of underground walkways at important points of the GT Road. These walkways be built at Gila Qasaban and Sialkoti Darwaza and several other points featuring settlements along the busy highway.

The representatives of the Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce have said that besides improving traffic flow and preventing accidents, the fencing of GT Road was meant to beautify the city. They also vowed to work on similar projects to make the city more beautify and citizen-friendly.
